Pucks and pumps

Two more basement projects are complete now. First I setup a net in one end of the basement so I can shoot hockey pucks at my goal without worrying about them busting through the plastic that's covering the insulation. I got a 24'x20' net from eBay and mounted it to the beams in the ceiling with hooks. I used two 10' 1.25" PVC pipes to weigh the bottom of the net down. I weaved them into the net and connected them with an elbow. It's been 11 yrs, but I'm shooting pucks in my basement again.

My other more expensive and less fun project was to install a backup sump pump. Since my main pump runs 2-4 times an hour, it seemed like a good idea. I got an estimate from a basement waterproofing service and the guy wanted $800 to install a system. That seemed high, so I researched this pump, bought it at www.acehardwareoutlet.com, and hired a handy man to install it for me. I like this system because it actually monitors the battery also. This pump also has a greater capacity than the one the first guy wanted to sell me. This battery could run the pump for 7.5 hrs straight, but since pumps go off and on, it would actually last longer than that. So I would have time to buy a new main pump or for the power to be restored (hopefully).
